Bathroom transformation with painted tiles

The project:

We completely transformed our bathroom and ensuite without removing a single tile. Using Dulux Renovation Range Tiles & Benchtops paint, we refreshed the wall tiles with Dulux Lexicon® Half on the walls and ceiling for a clean, contemporary look.

The floor was painted in Dulux Snow Season, while the vanity was updated in Dulux Aquanamel Domino and finished with new timber geometric knobs. To complete the makeover, we replaced all chrome fixtures with matching gunmetal tapware, rainfall showers, accessories and hardware.
The ensuite we kept the tiles as is, as they were different to those of the main bathroom, but refreshed the ceiling paint, tapware, cabinet, and accessories to that of the main bathroom for a complete cohesive result.
The result is a modern, high-end bathroom achieved entirely through DIY updates.

- Step 1:

Step 1
Remove existing chrome tapware, shower fittings, towel rails, robe hooks and cabinet hardware.

Step 2
Clean all surfaces thoroughly using sugar soap to remove soap scum, grease and residue.

Step 3
Lightly sand surfaces where required and mask off areas not being painted.

Step 4
Apply Dulux Renovation Range Tiles & Benchtops Gloss White to the wall tiles using a roller.

Step 5
Paint the walls and ceiling in Dulux Lexicon® Half, using British Paints Clean & Protect Kitchen & Bathroom paint on the ceiling for added mould and mildew protection.

Step 6
Paint the floor in Dulux Snow Season to introduce a soft grey contrast.

Step 7
Paint the vanity cabinet, fan and heater vent in Dulux Aquanamel Domino.

Step 8
Install new timber geometric cabinet knobs.

Step 9
Install the gunmetal rainfall shower, gooseneck bath spout, pin lever tapware and matching accessories.

Step 10
Complete final touch-ups, remove masking tape and enjoy the fresh contemporary bathroom and ensuite.

This is a smart way to modernise both spaces without the cost and mess of removing the tiles, @M_T_L. The light wall and floor colours have brightened the main bathroom, while the Domino vanity and gunmetal fittings add strong contrast.

Carrying the same finishes into the ensuite was also a great choice, helping both rooms feel connected despite the different tiles.

It is a great example of a bathroom renovation without the need for a full strip out.
