The project:

We had an old asbestos shed and green house in the back corner of the yard. I decided to replace it with a new shed that has now turned into a studio rather than just a garden shed. I pulled down the old one and used the foundations for the new build. It is painted in colours the same as the house and now has Electricity (licensed electrician) and a tank connected to it. I am a small lady 5 foot 2 inches tall and 62 years old and am very pleased with the result

- Step 1:

Dismantled the old shed, had to get the asbestos removed by professionals

- Step 2:

Constructed foundations.

Dug several holes 600mm deep, concreted in stirrups, and used some of the original sheds foundation stumps

- Step 3:

Attached floorboards to the foundations

Constructed the frame and stood it up making sure it is nice and square

- Step 5:

Added the roof frame

Put in the windows and put insulation foil around the whole building and roof

- Step 7:

put on the weatherboards, installed the door and put on the tin roof

- Step 8:

Painted weatherboards, dug the trench for electrical, had it wired and added tank to side unseen

- Step 9:

Built deck and small front verandah - Carlos is helping

- Step 10:

Insulated the walls and will get plaster and electrical professionally done and then do the architraves and paint it

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Lyndaw, it is fantastic to have you with us.

You've come a long way from that old asbestos shed to a lovely home studio. The weatherboards, Monument paint and small front verandah give it the look of a proper little studio rather than a backyard outbuilding.

Reusing some of the original foundation stumps was a practical touch, and Carlos looks like a very capable site supervisor perched on the new deck.

The plaster, architraves and final paintwork should finish the interior beautifully. I can't wait to see an update when everything is finished.
