The project:
The best outdoor spaces aren’t always bought, they’re reimagined. We repurposed plantation shutters into a stylish entertainment backdrop using treated pine, revived tired pebblecrete and rendered walls with a thorough gurney clean, and transformed neglected garden beds with fresh planting and mulch. Our beloved Mimosa outdoor setting was given a second life with vibrant Mojo Outdoor cushion covers and Marquee cushion inserts. The result is a relaxed tropical retreat where sustainability, craftsmanship and outdoor living come together beautifully, creating our favourite room without adding a single wall.

Plan the project.

measure and cut timber

Fix timbers in place

Install the shutters and ensure square
- Step 5:
Add dress timber
- Step 6:
Dug up and replanted the garden beds. Used seasol to fertilise.
- Step 7:
Cleaned the area using guerney for pebblecrete and rendered walls
- Step 8:
Checked Dulux colour charts. Bought sample paint pots and tested colours. Final painting is yet to be completed.
- Step 9:
Bought the cushion covers and inserts, added the decoration.
- Step 10:
Sat back and enjoyed.
