The project:
I decided to make a table for behind the couch to put cups and chargers and things. This isn't as cool as a lot of projects here, but it's my first project! I didn't have a plan, I just imagined the idea in my head and found a way to bring it to life. I plan on building more for the other side of the speaker, but I'm happy with how it turned out and it's made me confident
- Materials:

- Step 1:
First I measured a million times and cut the top and exposed side, checking they fit correctly in the space I had behind the couch.
- Step 2:
I drilled the holes to attach the exposed side to the top. I Should have done this after I did the legs, but by not putting the screws in I kept access for the legs.
- Step 3:
I then cut the four legs to the height of the lounge minus the thickness of the wood so it sat flush (I like seeing where I put my drink down)
- Step 4:
I Drilled two holes per leg and glued and screwed them to the top, countersinking them so they are flush with the top, leaving space for the side piece I cut earlier
- Step 5:
I measured the distance between the legs near the top of the table and cut cross beams to support near the bottom. The legs don't hold their form without these beams and are important for keeping them stable. I then drilled and screwed them in (with glue).
- Step 6:
Once I'm happy with the legs, I attach the front, adding a few screws there to attach it to the touching legs. I ended up sanding down one of the legs at this stage to make it stable. The first photo is of the table at this stage.
- Step 7:
Sanded then applied two coats of Cabots.
