The project:
complete novice using Google, Chat GPT and any Tradie I could find while lingering in the Bunnings isles, I designed a new vanity, my dad drew it up on sketch up and we demolished powder room, built new vanity, epoxy resined the top (4th time lucky) plastered the walls, painted and made a faux mirror frame. Time frame - 4 months
- Materials:
Majority of materials have been purchased from Bunnings
Fibre board, Crommelin bond breaking tape, Crommelin waterproofing membrane surface primer, Crommelin one coat rapid under tile waterproofing membrane, Gyprock base coat 45, Gyprock jointing tape, fibre board nails, pine timber, V board, Lane black Hampton handles, SpecRite Merbau panel, Feast Watson glass finish, draw runners, hinges, Dulux Aqua-enamel vintage white semi gloss, vivid white semi gloss and vivid white gloss. Dulux Base camp gloss , Dulux Domino Matt black. Neutral cure silicone, Tiles, Charred Ash grout, white grout, tile cement, 42mm moulding
- Tools:
hammer, paint brushes, rollers, Ryobi reciprocal saw, sander, cordless drill, portable light, orbital sander, level,
- Step 1:
Starting point, powder room
pulled out old vanity and pulled tiles off walls and removed mirror, removed trim off door way,
this was demolition day
- Step 2:
fixed the walls with fibre board and then gyprocked
- Step 3:
waterproofing goes down and vanity goes in and I try my hand to epoxy resined the the top, I didn’t know at this stage that I would be redoing 4 times
- Step 4:
top goes on , sinks get placed and test how to lay tiles
- Step 5:
painting gets done, plumbing completed, tiling completed, mirror goes up
