The project:
This bathroom was outdated but completely sound in every way. We used a Microcement DIY product to go directly over the floor and wall tiles using a 12 step process which is completely waterproof. This meant no massive demo and labour costs. We did a feature tile to liven things up and give it a fun modern update. All materials aside from the microcement were from Bunnings. We used 2 mirrors from Bunnings, cut 1 down using a glass cutting tool and siliconed to the wall to create an inexpensive mirror feature. We painted the cream/nude coloured bath using Rustolem Tub and tile paint. Painted all the walls above wet areas for a refresh. Used large format tiles and hired the bunnings tile saw to do a mitred edge to imitate stone bench tops. The cabinetry is all the original - we used a oak look panel and cut to size, glued on the fronts of the cabinet doors, new toilet also although not pictured.

Countless sanding pads, tape, paint, tube of silicone, no more gaps, liquid nails, rollers and so so so much more. Villaboard where we moved a door and sheeted over. Tapware and plumbing needs.
- Tools:
Some of the things that come to mind are tiling and grouting tools, glass cutter, drill, orbital sander, tile cutter, silicone gun, grinder.
- Step 1:
Step 1 is prep, removed old shower screen and tapeworm, basins etc. Removed old toilet too. Tiled feature tiles.
- Step 2:
Put new toilet in and started the microcement process. Every one of the 12 layers needs to dry and then be sanded. (Many many many sanding pads used)..
- Step 3:
Vanities, tile tops and cabinet doors, install new shower screens.
- Step 4:
Plumbing fitoff and mirrors.
