The project:
I am not the tidiest person .😇
I put things down on other things, then I can't find anything. Small workshop equals tight for space.
I set about creating a Workbench, Drawers and Holder for offcuts, where I could get at things.
I don't have many Photos of the build itself, (Didn't think of it) I have pictures of the stages coming together. I had originally some silver bolt together shelving all the way along.
See Image with the metal shelves, that was it.
I still have a bit more to do with it, Hope it inspires
- Materials:
Rackit for the workbench.
Yellow Toung for the workbench tops. (I can get more shelves from a sheet, then buying individual MDF sheet for the same area.)
Left Over 12mm structapanel particle board and a new sheet 2400 x 1200
I purchased some marine ply 2400 x 1200 for the back of the units.
Formply project board.
Screws, Glue,
Red sheeting, silver sheeting
Goliath Draw runners
Plastic Boxes
40mm Poly Pipe to hold the Tubes of Silicons ect that I use the most.
- Tools:
Ozito table saw, I had mounted into a cabinet on wheels.
Ryobi Jigsaw
GMC Circ saw
Spirit level
Measuring tape

- Step 1:
Looked at what I wanted to store and then drew up plans for cabinets and Drawers to house the items.
Looked at the materials I already had, and then made a list of what I needed.
I decided it was eaiser to make smaller cabinets, and then bolt them together later, so that If i need to move them, or change them or repair or redesign , then its only one section to pull pout and put back.
Check the photos, hopefully they will enlighten you as to the steps I took.
- Step 2:
I picked up some metal drawers from bunnings clearance recently, I mounted them in a 1200 bay. Whilst they are only 90cm wide, I built a bulkhead out of left over Melemine board, to mount the Draw sliders on.
I made two smaller draws to fill in the space to the top of the set.
- Step 3:
On the opposte side of the room, I made up some Drawers for screw drivers ect.
I could have bought a tool drawer set , but for me as much as I loved the look of them, I couldnt justify the cost, so made a Box, and then made 4 Drawers.
Added a silver front to fancy them up, and then some insert trays for screw drivers, spanners ect.
- Step 4:
I made a bay for holding all my metal off cuts from other projects.
