The project:
Im a 32yo female and gave this kitchen a facelift completely solo. This project was completed over 10 half days. Slowly transforming this house from 2010 brown into a light, coastal seaside home with brushed brass, stone, and 50 shades of beige. I followed professional painters for all the tips I could get, of which 70% of the time was on prep (cleaning/sanding/taping/wiping the paint i spilt over the floor). I used Taubans White Duck Half.

- Step 1:
1. Before photo seen here. Step 1 - Remove handles off the cubbords using a drill (or screwdriver) and clean all cubbords using sugar soap (suggest using the wipes for the areas closest to the stove/oven as these areas have the most grease)
- Step 2:
Warn your partner before they come home (refer to below image). Sand the cupboards ideally using an orbital sander to make life easier, start using 80 grit then end using 240 grit. Light wash again using sugar soap to remove all the dust and allow to dry completely.
- Step 3:
Fill all holes from the handles (make sure you apply excess hole filler given this product dries lower otherwise you’ll see a slight indent, and allow to dry). If you see the holes after a coat of paint, repeat this step. Make sure its dry before sanding.
- Step 4:
Lay tape anywhere where you dont want the paint and lay a drop sheet (i skipped the drop sheet and regret it).
- Step 5:
Again, warn your parter before they come home. Slightly wet the roller and brush and shake out just just it’s damp not wet, roll it over paper towel to make sure no drips. Apply primer with 4mm nap roller & allow to dry. Try not to paint too slow otherwise you'll lose the wet edge (when you start painting, try to keep the edge wet so when you are applying the next part, it blends in well. Its going to look patchy AF.
- Step 6:
Light hand sand using 240 grit
- Step 7:
Apply 1st top coat of beige paint and allow to dry
- Step 8:
Light hand sand using 240 grit & apply a 2nd coat of beige paint
- Step 9:
Install kitchen sink water mixer
- Step 10:
Apply Hafele Push Door Catches
