The project:
This old and outdated welsh hutch was a marketplace find. I had to enlist a friend to help me collect this with her trailer.. we managed to secure it from a storage facility on the South Side of Brisbane over the Gateway Bridge and get it back to my workshop in North Brisbane. It was old and had smelly green felt in the drawers which I removed not to mention the holes that needed repairingg on the side amongst other issues needing fixed.

methylated stripper to neutralise stripper
boutique neutral coloured paint
boiling water to remove felt inserts in both drawer cutlery sections.

selleys sugar soap
- Step 1:
Thorough cleaning with Selleys sugar soap was required. Several rounds were as it had a heavy smell and many years of grime we very obvious. Preparation was key for this project. I stripped back the stretcher legs using Selleys stripper to reveal the natural wood.
I primed the body of this project to ready it for a neutral colour paint as I wasnt sure how heavy the tannin bleed through might be. Dulux Precision purple max adhesion is my goto. I tan washed several parts off this prroject including the drawer faces and top area. all drawers had decorative wallpaper installed into ewach of the utensil sections in both drawers.
This was applied using unipro paint brush to apply the PVC glue and a dry roller to ensure it adhered without bubbles underneath.
New handles were installed to modernise the look, the hinges were refinish by appolying some gold coloured Rub n Buff product to bring about a nie golden sheen to them.
I used 3 coats of a neutral coloured boutique paint to achieve this look.
