My partner and I built 'Eddie', our teardrop caravan, together every weekend over 6 months so we would be able to spend more time together and in nature. Every weekend was a new challenge; neither us had construction experience so we spent our evenings watching Youtube videos learning how to safely run electrics and waterproof effectively and the weekends covered in paint and sawdust. Our many mistakes have become our favourite parts of the project and we've taken it for many trips to Gippsland and beyond with friends and family. We love Eddie!

Design Shape and frame with 3D Software, determining the materials needed and assembly process.
Cut down old trailer and reweld into shape for teardrop base, new axle and wheels.
Build and assemble plywood & pine frame onto trailer base, bolt & screw down.
Run electrics through the frame & fill plywood cutouts with insulating foam board.
Clad frame with 3mm ply over entire frame and waterproof membrane applied to entire frame and underside.
Cut and clad frame with aluminium sheeting, J mold over all edges to waterproof and hold in place.
Waterproof hinge and backdoor installed.
Build an install internal finishings (Headboard and cupboards for the cabin & Cupboards and bench for the kitchen).
Windows and doors installed, electrics installed in interior.
Attach locks and Electrical box at front, Jerry can holders & Gas bottle holders
This is so cool!! Why did you call it Eddie?… and can I order one?
Eddie is short for Edamame, because it looks like a green bean! Never thought about making more to sell, definitely on the cards in the future 😁
