The project:
My son loves golf and wants to play all the time. We converted his bedroom into a golf simulator and he moved to another bedroom in the house. We wanted a theme based on 'The Masters' with a deep green painted walls paired with a walnut wall panelling on the rear wall.
- Materials:
Dulux 1L Extra Bright Semi Gloss Aquanamel Enamel Paint - Highland Green
Dulux 4L Extra Bright Low Sheen Wash&Wear Interior Paint - Highland Green
- Step 1:
We put down 3mm MDF sheeting on the carpet, then added Structaflor sheets to give a firm base on the floor. The front half of the room has 20mm foam mats instead of the hard floor so when the golf ball lands it is quiter.
Then we installed a putting green artifical turf across the whole room.
- Step 2:
All the walls were painted in the Dulux Highland Green colour. The timber work above the stone fireplace was painted the same colour but in Aquanamel.
- Step 3:
Walnut wall panels were stuck the the rear wall for a darker theme in the room.
I then made 21 wall panels with 50mm foam on MDF backing, all stapled together with a PVC fabric over the top.
I them mounted a TV on the back wall so we can have something on while we play.
An impact screen was installed but putting battens on the ceiling through to the ceiling joists.
Lastly we had a neon sign made with a name for the room and installed that. My daughter then painted a picture which is displayed in the room of us playing golf.
