How to upgrade downlights to smart lights?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your downlights.

If your downlights are controlled by standard wall switches, the easiest Bunnings solution is to replace the existing light switches with DETA Grid Connect Smart Switches. Please make sure to speak to your electrician before you make any purchases. This is to make sure that they are compatible with your current downlight set-up.

These connect directly to your home Wi-Fi (no hub required) and let you control your lights from the Grid Connect app, as well as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. You can also create schedules, timers and scenes.

A few things to keep in mind:

* If multiple downlights are connected to a single wall switch, they'll all turn on and off together as one group.
* If each room has its own switch, you can control each room independently or create scenes such as "Movie Night" or "Goodnight."
* If you want to control each individual downlight separately, you'd need smart Wi-Fi downlights rather than a smart switch.

As these are fixed 240V electrical devices, installation or replacement of the switch or the lights needs be carried out by a licensed electrician.
