How much sanding needed for concrete BBQ benchtop before sealing?

Question

so I have been building my bbq set up and have done a pour in place concrete bench, few air holes on the edge which I may leave anyway as I think it adds character but overall really happy how it went seen as I haven't attempted anything like this before.

My question is how is the sanding? I wanted it to be partially exposed, kind of like the imperfections. I know it's  not everyone's  cup of tea but what are the thoughts on this. its now super smooth aftertaste 400 grit and before I seal wants to get some opinions from the folks here.

I havnt yet worked with a poured concrete table, tho one day I hope to. :) I like the idea of sealing it that @R4addZ has suggested and also the epoxy that @Nailbag mentions. I do not know whiuch would stand up to the test of time the longest.

It really looks like a decent bench with a nice solid base. Good work.

I helped a mate out a few years back on a similar project but was in a kitchen. We hired a block concrete polisher, then wet and dry sandpaper. For the coatings, we started on the sides with a thin base coat of resin to fill the holes due to its thicker consistency. Then a 2 pack epoxy on all sides. But I couldn't tell you the exact product sorry.
