How to match external window paint to powder coat colour?

Hi!

I want to paint some Cedar window frames the same colour as the new aluminium windows I had installed which are powder coated in 'anodic off white'. There's nothing wrong with the cedar windows except they now look out of place so figured some sanding and painting is a way cheaper alternative to replacing the windows 😆

Can I get paint tinted the same colour? 🤔 Trying to find a suitable colour is driving me insane!

It would be my best advice to use the stain blocker just to be on the safe side. The stain blocker prevents staining or bleed through of tannins and dark coloured paints. The last thing you want to happen is to have dark shadows coming through the topcoat and having to redo the paint job.

Thank you for sharing your question about painting your window frames. If it is possible, I suggest bringing a piece of your aluminium window to the store for possible colour matching. If it's not possible, I suggest taking a photo of your aluminium window frame and going to your local store's paint department and looking at the paint sample cards on show. Grab at least a dozen of the sample cards which you feel is close to the colour of "anodic off white". You may also consult the paint specialist and see if they are familiar with this colour name.

The photo is just to help you visualize the colour while you are at the store, it can't be used as a colour matching sample. Once you find a colour that is close to what you want, you can then ask the paint specialist to mix a batch for you. Please make sure to tell them that you are using it for outdoor use. Please make sure to use a primer such as the

. This prevents stains and darker colours from bleeding through to the surface of the topcoat.
