How to fix the soft closing on toilet lid?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to fix this type of soft closing toilet lid ?

I can't really see any visible switch or buttons to separate the seat and lid to gain access to the soft closing mechanism. The only possible switch or buttons i could think of would be on the side or the bottom, but i tried with metal tools (alan keys, etc) without avail.

Is my only solution to completely replace both seat and lid ?

Hi @msugi,

The easiest way to ensure you get a good fit is to take your existing toilet seat into your local Bunnings store with you. You can then compare it against the available replacement seats to find one that's a similar size and shape with a soft-close mechanism.

There are a number of soft-close options available, but matching the overall dimensions and hinge spacing of your current seat will give you the best chance of finding a replacement that fits your toilet neatly.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet seat.

I'm sorry, but the majority of soft close seats that I have seen all have integrated soft close mechanisms or cylinders. These parts are often press fitted and can't be serviced or replaced. I can only suggest replacing your seat with a similar sized toilet seat at the store.
