How to add garage Insulation?

Hi there

I'm planning on try and make my garage more warmer on this time because my kids staying in the house while I'm the one sleeping on the freezing garage. Garage have concrete wall one side but I want that wall and a door to make sure my room more warmer. For now I'm using a heater but I'm worried for my power  bill too.

Insulating your garage is a good idea. However, please note that class 10a buildings (such as private garages, carports, and sheds) are non-habitable under the National Construction Code (NCC) and require local government approval for residential use (see Section 119 of the Building Act 1975).

Property owners must obtain necessary approvals before converting a Class 10a building into residential spaces, such as kitchens or bedrooms. Additionally, the building must be upgraded to meet the minimum standards of a Class 1a dwelling per the NCC before being used for residential purposes. Please visit your local council to get the full list of permits needed.

Using a garage as a bedroom without reclassification and a council building permit is not permitted. It risks severe health issues from mould, invalidates home insurance policies in an incident, and causes legal issues during property resale.

I recommend engaging the services of a local registered builder who's had experience with room conversions if you wish to turn your garage into a bedroom. I suggest having a quick look at this featured discussion - Garage converted into two bedrooms by @richmac.

Before you buy any materials, I propose speaking to your builder about your ideas and they'll be able to convert it into actual plans that are in line with the rules and regulations of your local council.
