The project:
The project was to update the newly built study room by designing and building a custom bookcase (floor and above head) and work station.
This would create a purpose built space for working from home and also give us some much needed storage for a growing book collection.

- Step 1:
Draw up a mock of the idea. This allowed us to decide the size of the panels and how to mount the shelves. We prioritises the typical sizes (295 and 450mm) to minimise cuts.
- Step 2:
Build the two main boxes with shelves to brave the long sections. The back sections where 16mm board to allow for mounting on the wall studs.
- Step 3:
Mounted the two main boxes onto the wall studs. I had to get creative to get the top box level - stand up desk came in very handy.
- Step 4:
Glued feature paneling to the back of the upper section and started adding pine moulding to connect the boxes to the ceiling and walls and add shadow gaps for the led lights
- Step 5:
Installed the LED strip in a shadow gap.
- Step 6:
All done and ready for use.
