How to remove deadlock?

Hi everyone,

Looking for guidance on how to remove the lock in the picture. We don't have the key to it so trying to remove this and replace it with another lock. I removed the two bullet like caps on the cover but unable to remove the cover to unscrew the lock. If someone knows how to remove this lock please guide me. Thank you. Appreciate the support.

If you've removed those screw caps, then it should just be as simple as unscrewing the two through bolts that hold one side of the lock to the other. Once those screws are off, there may be a small amount of resistance from the spindle, but it shouldn't be enough that you can't pull the lock off or lever it off with something like a chisel or flathead screwdriver.

Have you got a photo of it with the screw caps removed? Is this image from the inside of the door? What does the other side of the door look like?

Understanding where you are currently will certainly help. Let me know how you go.

The method of removal will be from the back, a lock is useless if you can remove it from the key side.

Thank you for sharing the video. It has been very useful to understand the mechanism. The lock on our door seems to be a bit different where there were caps on and the screw somewhere deep inside which was unable to be viewed even with some light. I've attached the pics.

I suspect your deadbolt lock uses an Allen key head. I propose testing the holes with different sized Allen keys and see which key settles in. Once you achieve a positive lock, turn the Allen key anticlockwise to loosen it. Keep turning it until the entire bolt comes out, I suspect that it is a very long Allen key bolt that holds the lock together.

Please let us know if this method works.

Thank you. Any pointers on where I can get such tiny Allen Keys and possibly the size reference to ask for? Asking as I'm just a commoner with very limited knowledge about these.

I propose looking at the https://www.bunnings.com.au/craftright-25-piece-hex-key-set_p0585873 . It has a good set of sizes and one of them is bound to fit into the bolt you have.
