How to install stone cladding on brick wall?

Hi team,

Iam hoping to DIY natural stone cladding (sandstone) onto a brick wall and brick pillars.

Is the Davco SMP Evo tile adhesive the right product for this job?

Also wondering if any waterproofing is applied onto the brick before the adhesive is applied? It's a new build.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

I have spoken to Sika's technical teams before about projects like this and they are hesitant to say yes/no without discussing the finer details of the project as it is not always as simple as a single product being the solution. Usually, it will require a system comprising multiple products including but not limited to a render, primer and adhesive.

This is because, while SMP Evo is designed for large format tile and stone applications it does have weight limitations as well as limitations on what types of stone it can be used with without causing discolouration.

In this situation, the advice I have been given is that it is best to contact Sika's Technical team directly so they can discuss the project and provide a system that will work with your specific circumstance.
