Shelving under breakfast bar

The project:

I wante to build a storage shelf under our underused breakfast bar where currently 2 bar stools collect dust.

- Materials:

• British paint ace of spades coated in water based cabothane for the black bits.
• Oil based cabo for the pine bits as I want it to get richer with time.
• 235 x 19mm dressed pine.
• 6mm right angle shelf pins.

- Tools:

• Ozito multi function tool
• Drop saw ( as I had no circular saw)

- Step 1:

Cut timber to size. I was lucky as the depth of the DAR pine was exactly what I needed. Pre drill holes, countersink. Glue them together with right angle clamp, and screw them in.

- Step 2:

Paint with 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of water based cabothane. For the unpainted pine I used 3 coats oil based cabothane as I want it to turn a richer gold in time. Drill holes for shelf pins and place shelves in.

Fantastic work, @snipwhip. The natural pine looks great against the black framework, and you've made excellent use of what was previously wasted space under the breakfast bar.
