How to remove black spots from Merbau decking?

I was cleaning my BBQ on my merbau deck over the weekend, and I started noticing black spots on the deck. I think some liquid that dripped onto the deck during the BBQ cleaning has caused it. Could you please advise how I can best remove it. Ideally, I can spot remove it. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your question about your BBQ stain on your deck. I suggest trying out standard dishwashing liquid and a soft bristle brush or an old toothbrush to see if you can lift the stain off your deck. Most BBQ cleaners often have grease dissolvers and mix in with the oils of the BBQ set; it would be advisable to go with a soft cleaning solution first before you start using strong cleaning solvents.

If that does not clean the surface too well, my next suggestion is to use washing powder and very warm water. Use the same cleaning brush I recommended. However, if after several tries and the stain refuses to budge, I suggest looking at using https://www.bunnings.com.au/cabot-s-4l-deck-clean_p1521477 . This would be a very strong cleaning agent, and I advise strictly following the dilution instructions. Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask.

If the stain refuses to come off, it may be necessary to sand that section and apply the oil or sealer that you used on your deck. But this would be the last option as painting those sections will make them stand out.
