How to hang aluminium door to existing timber frame?

Can I hang an aluminium door using an existing frame where a timber door is currently? For example this one:

Many door companies have quoted me over $3000 as have mentioned they need to replace the frame as well. Is this true?

Trying to find a more affordable option to replace the current door pictured and also needs to be weatherproof as there is no cover in the courtyard.

The Polar Eco-View Windows 2040 × 820mm White Birch Aluminium Entry Door can potentially be installed into a suitable timber door frame, so you don't necessarily have to use the matching aluminium frame.

The main consideration is whether your existing timber frame is appropriately sized and strong enough. You'll need to check the internal jamb dimensions, the door thickness and rebate or door-stop position. Because the aluminium door is relatively heavy due to its glazing, the hinges also need to be securely fixed into solid timber rather than thin trim or inadequately supported material.

For an external installation, weatherproofing is particularly important. The timber frame should have suitable weather seals around the door, and the bottom of the opening will need an appropriate threshold or sill to prevent water ingress. The strike plate will also need to be positioned in the timber jamb to align correctly with the door's supplied locking hardware.

The matching Polar aluminium frame may make installation easier because it is designed specifically for this type and size of door and incorporates features such as perimeter sealing and a threshold. However, if you already have a sound external timber frame, replacing it may not be necessary. Please note that the Polar Eco View door only comes in a fixed size and can't be altered.
