How do I repair a rusted structural steel post? There is rust visible on all sides of the post. Thank you :)

Due to the structural nature of the post, I would suggest having it checked by a professional to ensure it is still structurally sound and capable of supporting the overhead load. A licensed builder would be a good place to start. They may confirm that the rust is only superficial and can be repaired, but it isn't worth taking risks with a structural member.
If it turns out to be surface rust only, you can clean the post back to sound metal using a wire brush, or a wire wheel/flap disc on an angle grinder for heavier rust. Take care not to aggressively grind away sound steel, particularly if there is already pitting or thinning. If you use an angle grinder, make sure you wear eye protection, gloves, hearing protection and suitable respiratory protection, and keep sparks well away from anything combustible.
Once the loose rust and flaking coating have been removed, clean the surface thoroughly to remove dust, grease and contaminants. You can then apply a suitable etch primer to the exposed steel, followed by an exterior metal paint system compatible with the primer.
If the post is not deemed safe, then your builder would be best placed to recommend a solution, which would likely be replacement.
