How to calculate how much vinyl flooring I need?

Hi,

I found a self adhesive vinyl floor cover for my bathroom floor. My floor measurement is 237cm x 283 cm. The vinyl cover comes in 3 different sizes, 40cm x 200, 300 and 500 cm. Please  help me how to work out how much vinyl I need to cover the floor. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your question about your flooring. Your bathroom floor measures 237cm × 283cm, which is approximately 6.7 square metres in total floor area.

The vinyl comes in strips that are 40cm wide. To cover the 237cm width of your bathroom, you need to place several 40 cm-wide strips next to each other. Five strips would only cover 200cm, so that would not be enough. Six strips will cover 240 cm, which is enough to cover the full 237 cm width, leaving just 3cm extra to trim off.

Each strip also needs to cover the 283cm length of the bathroom. The 200cm option is too short, while the 300cm option is long enough and leaves 17cm extra for trimming.

So, you would need to buy 6 pieces of the 40cm × 300cm vinyl to cover the floor. This gives you enough vinyl for the approximately 6.7m² bathroom floor, with a small amount extra for trimming and fitting.
