How to paint over peeling exterior brick wall?

Hi

We are planning toi paint over a rendered house with the same colour as it was previously. Some of the sealer and render has come off and thjere are bare spots. What should we do? Scrape off loose bits? Seal again the barespots and then paint? What is the best paint to use?

While it might look like it, these surfaces don't seem to be rendered, rather the pink seems to be textured paint, and the white is just standard exterior paint over brick.

In terms of preparation, you need to remove any paint that is poorly adhered, but anything that is solidly adhered can simply be painted over. For either surface the process would be much the same. Start by scraping and brushing away any loose or flaking paint so you’re working with a sound surface. Feather the edges of the remaining coating with sandpaper to help the repair blend in.

Any bare brick should then be cleaned and primed before repainting. For the textured wall, the patches are small enough that you can likely get away with just using a standard primer and painting over them with exterior paint, however there will be a bit of difference in the texture if you look closely. If you wanted to match the texture, you would use https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-4l-texture-paint-primer-4l_p1400467 to spot prime those areas, then paint over it with https://www.bunnings.com.au/dulux-4l-fine-texture-exterior-paint-4l_p1409786 in the colour of your choice.

For the white brick, you would simply paint over it with two coats of a standard exterior paint.
