How to paint over peeling kitchen cabinet doors?

I want to update my kitchen cabinets by painting them and changing the handles. I plan to redo the whole kitchen in 3-5 years so don’t want to change the doors if I don’t have to.

my question is, do you think these doors can be saved? There is damage to them. I planned to sand back and fill any parts that come away. Do you think they are saveable? And if so what process would you use?

I also have a tiled splashback, can you tile over tile?

Thank you for sharing your question about your kitchen doors. It appears that some parts of the door have been heavily damaged by moisture exposure. It might still be possible to salvage the door if the moisture damage is not too severe and has not reached the core of the door. I propose using a heat gun and removing the melamine cover of the door so that you can fully examine the condition of the door. If the outer layer is too puffy or has unravelled itself, it will need to be replaced. You can use the old door as a template and recreate the door for your kitchen.
