I'd suggest having a chat with the manufacturer of your air conditioner about suitable protection from salt air. There are specialised polymer-based coatings designed to protect air-conditioning components in coastal environments; however, these are typically applied by the manufacturer and aren't really retail products that you would apply yourself.
I'd then recommend contacting a local HVAC technician. Being in a coastal environment, a local technician should be familiar with the effects of salt air and able to advise on the best method of protecting your particular unit.
In the meantime, washing the outdoor unit down with fresh water every month or so can help remove salt deposits and reduce their build-up. Just make sure the unit is switched off and follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions.
