How to repair split in laminate benchtop?

Hello

I have just listed my property for sale and recently noticed this split in the laminate benchtop where water has gotten in, is there anything I can do with this without resorting to replacing the benchtop, the laminate itself is not damaged, just swollen underneath, if I scrape under it where it has split it seems to be like sawdust.
appreciate any advice on this

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your benchtop.

This type of damage is caused by moisture getting into the unprotected timber section of the benchtop. Usually, the benchtop installer will wipe a layer of silicone on the surface of the exposed timber section of the benchtop. Once the two faces are brought together the pores are sealed and water can't get into the timber fibres. But if this step is skipped or forgotten any standing water left between the joints results in the timber expanding and unravelling.

I'm sorry, but I am currently unaware of a possible repair solution that can fix your benchtop. I can only suggest either replacing the damaged section with a new piece which is similar or replace the entire benchtop. If you are curious to know how much it might cost, I suggest visiting your local store and speaking to the in-store kitchen specialist. Give them the measurement of your entire benchtop and they will quote you for the replacement.
