How to remove spindle from Gainsborough Bailey privacy door handle?

I cannot remove spindle to be able to replace Bailey privacy door handles

I found the rubber ring and removal allowed me to remove the spindle and mechanism. The replacement doesn’t have a rubber ring. But a button. Hopefully will not have to replace this one as it appears to be more robust.

Oftentimes, there is a small O-ring on one side of the spindle which can be tough to spot. If you look at the base of the spindle on both sides of the door, can you see a small O-ring? If so, a pick tool like one from this

Sometimes the spindle can have a hole at the top with a concealed hex fitting inside that requires an allen key to remove it.

Otherwise, have a look on the latch mechanism at the base of the spindle to see if there is a button, or anything that seems like it can move. There may be a hidden mechanism that requires pressing or turning to release the spindle.
