If i wanted to change out my current kitchen sink plugs for sink strainers (so that food stops draining down my sink), how easy would it be? What are the steps and what would i need to complete this?

Your current waste is not compatible with that style of strainer. Note there is no hole in the centre of the waste for the pin on the strainer to sit inside. If you wanted to use a basket style strainer, then you would need to replace the waste altogether with one like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-50mm-stainless-steel-sink-basket-waste_p4920580 or this https://www.bunnings.com.au/fix-a-sink-standard-stainless-steel-waste-sink-basket_p0424142 depending on the diameter of the opening in your sink. In saying this, you would be making a modification to a plumbing system, for safety and compliance reasons, you would need to contact a plumber for assistance with this.
If you didn't want to get a plumber involved, you could simply drop a strainer like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-38mm-waste-basket-strainer_p4920213 or this https://www.bunnings.com.au/kinetic-50mm-sink-strainer_p4920212 into the existing spot depending on its diameter.
