How to epoxy a concrete tabletop?

Question

I have a concrete tabletop I want to repair.

I am considering (once repaired) using this product perhaps to seal the tabletop.

However, I would also consider a wax type of product for concrete tabletops if you can suggest anything.  I basically just want it to have a good seal on it so it protects it from marks like sticky tape or from scratches and dents to the tabletop.

I am also looking for ideas to repair the tabletop beforehand. I am wondering if I am actually going to have to sand it back but then I also know that it would be hard to get a color match for it. There are quite a few divets, and marks. I am basically looking to repair it as much as I can before coating it. I am not looking for perfection but for it to be better than what it is now.

Another alternative might be to give it a very good clean and then try color match the marks on it without sanding it back?

I'm not aware of any concrete stains, so finding one that closely matches the existing colour could be difficult. You could certainly investigate this option, but I'd recommend testing any stain in an inconspicuous area first, as the final colour can vary depending on the concrete and existing finish.

I'd also be inclined to start with a plastic scraper rather than steel. It should reduce the chance of scratching or gouging the concrete while you're removing the remaining adhesive.

The Crommelin sealer is not classified as food safe. However, food-safe coatings are typically required for food preparation surfaces where food is in direct contact with the surface, such as chopping boards. For a dining table, where food would normally be served on plates rather than prepared directly on the surface, a food-safe coating generally wouldn't be necessary.

However, given this is a dining table, the Crommelins product is more suitable to exterior trafficked surfaces. There are not many sealers designed specifically for dining tables.

I agree with you regarding the repair before coating. I feel that color matching it will be (not impossible) but time consuming.

With the actual scraper, I have a few. It is concrete and obviously been stained with a specific color. I am wondering if it is better to use a plastic scraper rather than a steel scraper as to avoid doing any damage to the concrete.

Also, all these white marks in the photo are where the original color has actually been stripped away by whatever was left on the table. Sticky tape, glues etc.

I am wondering if actually trying to buy a stain that suits concrete as close as I can get to that color would work?

Lastly, is the Crommelin sealer gloss food safe as it is actually a dining table.
