How to fill concrete floor gap?

G’day,

I have a very old stone house and I am replacing the Lino in the kitchen.  I’ve started to remove the skirting boards only to find they have been ‘set into’ the floor ie. below the floor level.  The floor seems to be concrete.  What would be the best way to fill in these gaps so when the new Lino is installed it sits flush against the wall. Then I’ll install new skirting on top of the Lino.  Hope this makes sense!  Thank you.

Yes, you can use a construction adhesive such as Liquid Nails to help secure the new skirting boards @Kittenlicks. However, I’d also recommend mechanically fixing them to the wall rather than relying solely on the adhesive.

For a masonry wall, you can drill through the skirting and into the wall, insert suitable plastic wall plugs and then screw the skirting into position. These STAHL kits are fantastic. The Liquid Nails will provide additional hold along the length, while the screws and plugs will keep everything securely in place.

Re the new skirting boards, I assume they'll need to be glued onto the wall??  If so would you please recommend a product, or advise me otherwise the best way to attach.  Thank you again, very helpful this Forum!!
