How to troubleshoot Wagner Flexio 575 paint sprayer?

Hi Bunnings Team,

I have bought a Wagner Flexio 575 Spray Gun which after few rounds of use is squirting paint (big blobs). I have set it up and cleaned it as YouTube videos by Wagner but nothing helped. The purpose of the spray gun was to paint the internal walls of my house and some furnitures.

Was it a wrong choice? Should I go for something else. Please suggest.

I'm sorry to hear you are having some issues with your sprayer. Allow me to run through some troubleshooting steps.

I'd start by checking both the paint flow rate and air volume settings. It can take a little bit of adjustment to get the right combination for the paint you are using. I'd suggest testing the sprayer on a large piece of cardboard and adjusting the settings until you are getting a consistent, even spray pattern before moving back to your project.

I'd then remove and inspect the nozzle to make sure there is no dried paint or other material partially blocking it. Give the nozzle and surrounding components a thorough clean and, if necessary, use a small pipe cleaner or similar soft cleaning tool to clear any paint build-up. Also check the paint itself for dried paint, skin or other debris that could be making its way into the sprayer.

If everything is clean and you are still getting paint squirting rather than a consistent spray, the paint may simply be a little too thick to atomise properly. The FLEXiO 575 is designed to spray most suitable paints without dilution, but Wagner does recommend dilution as a troubleshooting step where the coating is too thick. Check the paint manufacturer's instructions first, but if it is a water-based paint that permits thinning, try adding a small amount of water and testing again.

I'd also make sure the paint container is firmly tightened, and the air cap is correctly fitted, as Wagner lists these as other potential causes of poor atomisation.
