How to attach Colorbond fence extension post to existing concrete retaining wall?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice with a fence installation.

I’m installing a Colorbond/Good Neighbour fence along a retaining wall. At the end of the retaining wall, there’s already an existing steel post, and unfortunately there’s only around 300mm of depth available for the new fence post because of concrete.

My plan is to install the new Colorbond post and secure/bolt it to the existing steel post, rather than trying to drill into the retaining wall or concrete.

Has anyone done something similar or can recommend the correct way to fix the new fence post to the existing steel post? I’d also really appreciate advice on the appropriate brackets/bolts or a suitable method to make sure it’s strong and secure.

The Good Neighbour fencing system you have is not one that Bunnings currently stocks, so I'm not familiar enough with the specific components available for the system to confidently recommend a particular bracket or fixing method. It would certainly be worth contacting the retailer or manufacturer, as they may have a purpose-made solution for this situation.

From a general fencing perspective, my preference would be to move the next post across by around 600mm and investigate whether a custom-sized panel or infill could be installed between the existing post and the new one. This would allow the new post to be properly anchored into the ground with an appropriate concrete footing rather than relying on the existing post for support.

If moving the post isn't possible, there may be a bracket, channel or other component that allows the new post to be securely connected to the existing one. This is where I'd recommend checking with the manufacturer or retailer, as they'll be best placed to confirm whether such a component is available and whether this type of installation is supported by their system.

Hopefully, they can point you towards a suitable component or solution. If you find out what options they have available, I'd be happy to take another look and discuss how you might approach the installation.
