How to fix rusted steel door frame?

We've just had our old outdoor bathroom re-tiled and looking to finish it off with a fresh lick of paint! However the steel door frame has some rust (from the leak we'e just had fixed). What is the best way to restore this door frame, is it possible to remove the rust or stop it getting worst? And what sort of paint is recommended?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

From the photos, the rust on your steel door frame looks to be fairly surface level, so I think you should be able to clean it up relatively easily.

Start by removing as much of the rust and loose paint as possible with a wire brush. Follow this with some light sanding using sandpaper to smooth the area and feather the edges of the existing paint. Make sure you wear a suitable dust mask while brushing and sanding.

If there is still rust remaining after you've mechanically removed as much as possible, apply a rust converter to the affected areas and allow it to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions.

You can then apply a suitable metal primer, such as Dulux Metalshield Etch Primer, followed by a couple of coats of a suitable metal paint, such as Dulux Metalshield.

I'd also have a close look around the bottom of the frame for any potential source of ongoing moisture. It would be worth observing things to ensure the issue doesn't return.
