How to determine suitability for toilet with Bunnings install offer?

Hi all,

I would like to change this toilet and hoping to fit a back to wall toilet and get Bunnings to install.

Does that seem feasible? What do I need to check? I am struggling to find staff to help instore. At the weekend it's packed and during the week there is no staff.

If back to wall is not possible, can you suggest a couple of good looking options please?

Would the one in the last photo fit?

If I get help here I can hopefully only make 1 visit to the special order desk!

Hi @Coco_M,

To utilise the Bunnings toilet installation offer, the new toilet needs to be a like-for-like replacement. At a minimum, this means it would need to be the same style of toilet as your existing one, which in your case is a link suite. It’s called a link suite because a pipe links the pan to the cistern.

Link suites are more commonly seen with older toilet installations, although replacement models are still readily available. Unfortunately, changing to a close-coupled or back-to-wall suite, where the cistern sits directly on or behind the pan and eliminates the link pipe and gap, would not be considered a like-for-like replacement under the installation offer.

The reason is that sticking with the same toilet style typically allows for a straightforward replacement with minimal unexpected work. Changing styles can require alterations such as relocating the water inlet, dealing with incompatible waste set-outs, modifying pipework, repairing or replacing tiles, or making other adjustments to accommodate the new suite. This additional work can vary considerably from one installation to another and would typically fall outside the scope and budget allocated for the standard installation offer.

Another thing to consider is that your existing link suite is already relatively modern in appearance, so there may not be a significant visual benefit in replacing it with another similar link suite. If you're looking for a more substantial styling upgrade, such as the toilet in your image, I'd suggest engaging a licensed plumber separately. They can assess the existing waste outlet, water connection and available space and advise which back-to-wall or close-coupled suites will be suitable.
