How to remove timber floorboards?

hi all - i recently had some re stumping done and now need to replace floor boards. I need to pull up these sections - as prep - what is the simplest way to do this ? I dont need to keep the boards - looking for the easiest way ? Any thoughts ? Cheers

Hi @KPD,

As per the renderings I've created below, a common method is to first verify that there are no electrical cables, plumbing or other services beneath the floorboards. You can then use a circular saw to cut through the boards alongside each joist, around 50mm away from it.

The longer section of board can then be used as a lever to help lift the shorter section from the joist, hopefully pulling the nails with it or at least getting the board started. Once you've created some clearance, you can get a wrecking bar underneath and continue removing the boards.

You can certainly attack them directly with a wrecking bar, but I've found making these cuts first can make the job significantly easier, particularly when you don't need to preserve the boards.

Remember to wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection.
