How to fix panelling to underside of patio roof?

Gday all,

I would like to install some type of panelling to the underside of our patio, as it currently looks a bit average. I’m thinking running the panelling lengthways from the eaves to the end of the patio (like my scribble in the pic), with the cross beam separating them in the middle.

any assistance on how to achieve this would be fantastic!

@JacobZ and @Dave-1 thanks so much for your replies. The patio was built by the previous owner with what appears he had on hand at the time. My thought process was to add some sort of batons runnings width ways so I could attach cladding. Of the weight will cause an issue, it maybe off the cards.

Aside from the already mentioned weight limitations, your not going to be able to fix anything directly to the roof sheets without then having to deal with waterproofing issues from screws.

Have you considered lightweight Coreflute sheets? These come in a range of colours and finishes as well as sizes. These could be glued directly to the roof sheeting without adding any significant weight.

You could trick them out with smart lighting behind the sheets filling the roof channels that you can control brightness and colour.

The other thought is stretched out dense fabric to lightweight pine framing fixed to the beams and posts.
