Hi team, what would you recommend to remove sticky residue off my chairs? They used to have felt stickers on them but I want to replace them.
Hi @floorboardshelp ,
I’d start by carefully scraping away as much of the old felt and adhesive as possible using a sharp chisel. Keep the chisel fairly flat against the surface and work gradually so you don't dig into or damage the chair. As chisels are extremely sharp, make sure you wear gloves and a long-sleeved work shirt and always work with the chisel pointing away from your body and ensure you keep your free hand well clear of the cutting path.
Once you've removed the bulk of it, you can clean up the remaining sticky residue with Goof Off Adhesive Remover. It is designed for removing adhesives and other stubborn residues. Apply a small amount to a cloth rather than pouring it directly onto the chair, then gently work away the remaining adhesive.
If there is still some stubborn residue left after using the Goof Off, you can give the area a light sand with some fine-grit sandpaper to remove the last traces and leave you with a clean, smooth surface.
Once everything is clean and dry, you should have a nice surface to attach your replacement felt pads to.
