S/E Water looked at the silt build up and advised to replace the mesh under the valve.
How do I do this?
Hi @Wy,
Without some more details or photos, it's a little difficult to determine exactly which mesh filter they are referring to and what would be involved in replacing it.
If it's a component that can simply be removed and replaced without disconnecting any plumbing, then it may potentially be a straightforward DIY replacement. However, I suspect the mesh filter you're referring to could be associated with the cistern inlet valve, and accessing or replacing it may require the water supply and inlet valve to be disconnected.
Plumbing regulations vary between states and territories, and work involving the disconnection or alteration of the water supply generally needs to be completed by a licensed plumber. If replacing the filter requires disconnecting the inlet valve, I'd recommend having a plumber complete the work.
If you can post a photo of the valve and indicate where you were advised the mesh is located, our members might be able to identify the component and whether it can be replaced without disturbing the plumbing.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
