How to repair a chip in a kitchen laminate benchtop?

Hi,

Something accidentally dropped on the edge of our kitchen benchtop and has caused the damage shown in the photo. The surface has chipped off and the material underneath is now exposed.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best way to repair this? What type of filler, paint or repair product would you recommend, and how would you go about fixing it so that it looks reasonably neat?

I’m also a bit worried about leaving the exposed area as it is, particularly around the kitchen in terms of swelling due to moisture…

Any advice on products and the steps involved would be really appreciated. Thank you very much in advance! :-)

Thank you for sharing your question about your laminate benchtop. I also recommend having a look at this discussion - How to fix gouged laminate benchtop? by @Hayaimi. Please note that these are mostly temporary repair options and will need to be touched up from time to time as they wear out. Should the opportunity present itself, I propose replacing the benchtop with a new one.

The basic suggestions made are either to patch the surface with a laminate patch or fill the damage with a UNi-PRO 500g Multi Purpose Interior Filler - 500g. I've outlined the steps in the best advice guides.
