How to repair chips and dents in bamboo floorboards?

Hi everyone,

I accidentally dropped a heavy pan onto our bamboo flooring and it has left quite a few small chips/dents in the surface, as shown in the photo.

The floorboards have a coated/finished surface, and I’m not sure whether the damage is just to the finish or whether some of the bamboo itself has been damaged as well.

Does anyone have experience repairing this type of damage? What products would you recommend — for example, a wax repair stick, wood filler, touch-up coating, or something else?

I’d also really appreciate some advice on how to go about the repair without making the damaged area more noticeable or damaging the surrounding finish.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your bamboo flooring.

If you are after a quick touch up repair, I suggest using Waxstix. The basic steps are to heat up the end of the Waxstix and apply it over the damaged section of the floor. You then use a sharp scraper to remove the excess wax on the surface in order to have a nice flat surface. I've placed a colour chart and steps below.

Another option is to use Timbermate. The application steps are similar but there is no need to heat this filler, just use a plastic scraper to apply to the damaged section and remove any excess filler. Wait for the filler to cure before you step on the damaged section. Please do not over fill the damaged section and keep it level to the floor so that you wont have to sand the surface of the floor.
