Deck rebuild using composite boards

The project:

Deck built 17years ago. Subframe and deck surface deteriorated. Decided to rebuild bearers and joists (resealing all cuts with wood preservative), using bearer tape and finishing with Ecodeck. The finish is zero maintenance and the frame will last 20 years.

- Materials:

90x45 timber pressure treated and cuts sealed

Bearer tape

Ecodeck and their fixing system for 3mm gap

Pedestal feet

Bugle screws and nails

- Tools:

Drop saw and stands

Drills and bits

Nail gun

Jigsaw

Spirit level

Laser level

Lump hammer

Rasp

- Step 1:

remove old and damaged deck

- Step 2:

Build new sub frame bearers and joists

- Step 3:

Lay new decking in three picture framed sections

- Step 4:

Dispose of old materials and waste from new build

What a fantastic transformation! The new deck looks amazing and has really refreshed the whole area. Ekodeck is a great choice too, as it requires very little maintenance while providing a long-lasting finish. It’s also great to see bearer tape used to help protect the deck framing. You’ve created such a lovely outdoor space, and I’m sure it will be enjoyed for many years to come, making plenty of happy memories with family and friends. Great work!
