The project:
re landscaped our entire backyard. It was originally just buffalo grass for the entire yard but was high maintenance and grass wouldn’t grow in patches. We have made it so much more functional for entertaining and relaxing, incorporating more storage, colour and overall tidiness as everything flows and works together now. The outdoor shower is my favourite part.
- Materials:
Corten steel edging, bluestone for pavers and crazy paving shower base. Copper shower. Spotted gum decking for the deck and shower feature wall. Dromana gravel for the paths and veggie patch area, galvanised metal garden shed, veggie patch and wood storage. Sir Walter Buffalo turf. Top soil, and garden compost mix. Australian native plants and trees, as well as lavender and a lemon tree.
- Tools:
Ozito tools; grimder, saw, drill, impact driver, hammer drill.
Hammer, screw drivers, shovel, lawn leveler slimline wheel barrow
- Step 1:
dug out areas for deck, paths and veggie patch area. Laid weed mat.
- Step 2:
Bought in crushed rock for base.
- Step 3:
Dug holes for decking posts and then built the frame followed by the spotted gums boards, bought in dromana crushed rock and bluestone pavers.
- Step 4:
Dug out shower and connected into the existing storm water for the drain. Laid concrete for the base and the bluestone crazy paving. Put the grout in the crazy paving and built the spotted gums boards decking feature wall and attached the copper shower head on. Had a plumber connect shower to hot and cold water through the roof.
- Step 5:
Placed wood storage holder and veggie patch. Filled veggie patch with garden clipping and logs and then garden mulch and soil to finish.
- Step 6:
Finished the yard by raising the grass area up to the edging height and laying sit Walter buffalo turf.
- Step 7:
had the garden beds dug out and edging before the turf was laid. After turf I put the weed mat in with garden bed soil then finished with mulch and plants.
