I’m trying to prep my powder room for painting. There’s a rip in the plasterboard. How should I go about smoothing this out? Do I need to apply anything to readd the layer or is it just a case of smoothing out?
Hello @simonmckb
It appears that a layer of the paper got torn off, I suggest using https://www.bunnings.com.au/selleys-180g-spakfilla-rapid-gap-filler-180g_p1231864 to fill the damage on your wall. I recommend putting only what you need and keeping it as level as possible with the wall. Once the filler cures you can lightly sand it down so that it is at the same level as the wall. Clean the area as best as possible and the next step will be to prime and paint the surface.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How To Patch A Plaster Wall (please note that there is no need to use the mesh patch on your wall just the filler)
