How to fix foil sticking out underneath sliding door?

Hi,

There is this layered foil sticking up from under my sliding door. It looks like it was glued to the bottom rail but has come away. Is this a sealant? I can’t see any images of other doors with this so I’m at a loss with what to do. It’s acclimating filth and looks bad so I’d like to replace if necessary or remove if possible.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.

It looks like this could be an aluminium flashing tape that was installed beneath the sliding door frame to create a separation between the aluminium frame and the concrete below. Can you see any of it from the outside of the door? If the bottom of the door frame is exposed on the outside, I imagine you would be able to see more of it.

Assuming that is what it is, I wouldn't remove or pull the flashing out from beneath the door, as it may be serving an important moisture-separation or protective function.

You should be able to carefully trim the exposed section back with a sharp utility knife so it finishes neatly in line with the flooring. Just take care not to pull on or disturb the flashing that remains underneath the door frame and remember to wear gloves and protective clothing when working with knives.
