Polycarbonate roof drip

Hi team!

wondering if anyone has any ideas.. we have polycarbonate sheets on our pergola roof. When it rains, some water falls off the end of the poly, over the fence onto the grass, perfect. But some water runs underneath and backwards, dripping on our deck/seating area.

We don’t have the structure to attach a gutter (I don’t think), any other hacks? Or is a gutter the only way?

We’ve got the pvc sheet in place, to block the bulk of the rain, but the water running under the poly drips on the deck aide of the pvc sheet too.

I Have seen people deal with this by running a bead of silicone underneath about 0.5 cm from end to stop the capillary action when they only had a small slope.

Hi @Joodles,

It's great to see you have already received a helpful reply from @JDE. As he has mentioned there needs to be an edge for the water to drop off or it will cling to the underside of the sheeting and backtrack under the roof. Normally the sheeting is laid at such a pitch as to avoid water running underneath.

Perhaps you could try using some Suntuf Black Greca Foam Infill - 4 Pack along the edge under the roof. It would be relatively easy to install by sandwiching it between the roof and a piece of Woodhouse Weatherproof 42 x 18mm 5.4m DAR PR4 H3 LOSP Treated And Primed Finger Jointed Pine Moulding. You'd screw through the roof/infill and into the timber to secure it.

It's not particularly clear from the image but if that is a beam there you can push the infill between the beam and the sheeting the stop water moving further in past the beam.
