When to apply decking stain to new pine deck?

Hi, everyone

We've just had a deck built (pine wood). Can you please advice how soon should we stain the wood?

Most instruction/brand state 4-6 week waiting period. Any advice.

Hi @stelz,

Four to six weeks is the time frame you must wait for natural weathering. You can prep the deck yourself by using Intergrain UltraPrep Tannin And Oil Remover. Once the stripping process is complete, then use Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner to finish the job. You would then do a water droplet test, and if it is absorbed, you are ready to coat the deck with a stain or oil.
