Low level decking

Hello Beautiful people

Inspired by many contributors and comforted by experts, I am going to start my backyard decking project.

Have placed an order for H3 pine 90 x 45 for the base and 90 x 19 marbau on top. Part of the deck will be on concrete and part over the soil.

keeping gap 600mm between the joist and using H4 90 x90 as post.

Hi @MitchellMc, things are going ok so far. Had some hiccups with the pole. Couple of the poles was higher than others and had to trim. Leveling the base was the biggest challenge due to some parts over concrete and some over the soft surface.

I ordered Merbau from bunnings and send different sizes of timber. Any suggestion on how to lay??

Hi @karim,

When laying decking of different lengths, you'll want to organically stagger them, so no joins end up next to each other. This can involve setting up piles of similar lengths and then taking a board from a different pile each time you lay one. Using this method will also help you reduce wastage on your boards.
