Glass splashback redo

The worst thing I ever did was go all black in a kitchen. Biggest mistake, impossible to keep clean, shows up absolutely everything from finger prints to grease splatters….you name it “the worst”.

So now I’m wanting a change (no surprises there it’s been 8 years) I’m done with cleaning for hours after I cook.

Can we tile overtop of the glass?? If so what size tile can we use since it’s 640h.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. Thank you for joining us and sharing your question about tiling over the glass splashback.

Tiling over the glass splashback is possible. You can use any tile you wish, fitting will not be an issue as tiles can be cut down and adjusted to fit. The key is proper and thorough preparation of the glass splashback. There are several types of primers you can use to prep the glass before tiling. Tile over glass products are sometimes purchased as linked items complimenting one another, please consult your store's tiling specialist in order to get the correct set.

Please remember that tiling over the glass splashback will increase its thickness as the glue and tile are added. This added thickness may interfere with your kitchen tapware, please take this into account before proceeding. As the sides of the splashback will now be thicker as well I suggest using a finishing trim of your choice to hide the unfinished end of the tile.

A new splashback!! ……I’m still left with the issue of the cupboard doors though, a remedy for this that wouldn’t require complete new cabinetry would be ideal. Might have to do an additional post on this problem.
Tiling became too much of an issue it can be done but how my kitchen is designed starting and finishing a tile placement was an issue all too big for us.
